Our product line includes: blasting abrasives, commercial and industrial aggregates, fly ash, golf course and landscaping products, waste and wastewater filtration media, and premium wood pellet fuel. Located in Milford, Hants County, about half-way between Halifax and Truro, Shaw Resources is a member of The Shaw Group of Companies, one of Canada’s 50-Best Managed Companies We are currently recruiting a HEAVY EQUIPMENT MECHANIC to repair and help maintain our mobile equipment, including loaders, plant trucks, excavators, forklifts, graders, highway trucks and trailers. In addition to hands-on mechanical work, the successful individual will also assist Maintenance with record keeping, coordination, prioritizing, and scheduling of maintenance and repairs. This is a full time, permanent position Required Qualifications: • Heavy Duty Mechanic license. • Truck & trailer certification would be considered a strong asset. • Air brake endorsement. • Minimum of five-years hands-on mechanical experience, indoors and outdoors. • Knowledge of arc welding, pneumatic tank trailers; CAT, Volvo, Komatsu Wheel Loaders, and various brands of forklifts, excavator and plant trucks. • Knowledge in troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of production equipment (conveyors, stackers and gear boxes) would be considered an asset. • Strong knowledge and practice of safety; safety training will be considered an asset, but can be provided, including Forklift, WHMIS, Fall Arrest, First Aid & CPR, Lock Out/Tag Out, etc. • Ability to exercise good judgment under pressure, including repair or replace decisions, timing, working within budget, etc. • Good organizational and communication skills, work in team environment, maintain accurate maintenance records, competent in computer skills • Appreciation of production environment and the sense of urgency to be up and running. • Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as required to accommodate equipment down times.
