Willow Lodge Association is a non-profit organization that is governed by an 11-member Board of Directors elected from the community. Presently operating a 61 bed Nursing Home licensed by the Department of Health. Willow Lodge is a registered Eden Alternative® home.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Operations is responsible for the overall management and operation of Willow Lodge’s Environmental, Food Service and Maintenance Departments and performing a variety of routine building operations and maintenance functions. As a member of the senior management team the Director of Operations of this position is required to participate in a number of leadership activities related to the operation of the organization including strategic planning, policy and procedure development, acquisition, utilization and monitoring of both fiscal and personnel resources.
S/he will play an active and effective roll to maintain The Eden Alternative® Philosophy.

 

Other Requirements :

Education and Experience:

  • Degree in Engineering or related discipline
  • Previous experience in construction or building maintenance
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Senior Management Role
  • Emergency Measures Training

Recently our Employer Engagement Specialist from Colchester was invited by the Office of African Nova Scotian Affairs to join them and other community leaders/organizations for an interactive morning at the Nova Scotia Construction Sector Council Trades Exhibition Hall. This hall is a unique venue that offers students, job seekers, employment counsellors, teachers, and the general public an opportunity to experience construction occupations in a tangible way.

The Hall features 14 interactive exhibits (booths) where visitors can learn about construction careers by participating in a variety of hands-on demonstrations and speaking with industry professionals at different stages of their careers. A few examples of the booths are: Boilermaker, Bricklayer, Carpenter/Millwright, Electrician, Management, Operating Engineer, and Sheet Metal Worker.
