Essential Responsibilities:

  • Operate ice resurfacer and/or other specialized equipment, power tools, cleaning and safety equipment, including ice maintenance
  • Janitorial, building, and indoor field house duties
  • General building maintenance, including building repairs (painting, etc.)
  • Maintain specialized equipment/tools (i.e. electric motors, pumps, tractors, etc.)
  • Setting up/taking down equipment for special events
  • Assume responsibility for the safe operation of the facility during a scheduled shift
  • Follow established preventive maintenance repairs
  • Maintain facility log books as required
  • Preparing field house for rentals, moving nets, goal posts, and netting
  • Basic snow shoveling on exit doors
Other Requirements :

Certifications, Memberships, Licenses:

  • Current Standard First Aid/CPR certificate (preferred or must obtain upon employment)
  • Related certificates or training in the following would be an asset or willingness to obtain:
    • Class "B" refrigeration ticket
    • Automated External Defibrillators (AED) training
    • Propane Handling certificate
    • Certified Ice Technician (CIT) certificate
    • Confined Space certificate

Work Environment:

  • This position will work both indoors and outdoors.

Police Check Requirements

  • Because of the environment this position will be working in, the successful candidate will be required to furnish an original Police Information Search (criminal reference check) (working with vulnerable persons) prior to commencement of employment.

  • Safety shoes are required to be worn at all times
  • Walking: frequent balancing; constant walking on level surface
  • Sitting: frequent sitting in a vehicle seat
  • Reaching: frequent reaching below shoulder, forward, handling (maintenance work)
  • Standing: frequent standing inside (customer service, daily maintenance work)
  • Climbing: frequent climbing stairs (maintenance work)

Other Physical and/or Safety Requirements:

  • Bending: occasional stooping, twisting, kneeling, crouching, squatting, crawling (during cleaning and flooding ice)
  • Walking: occasional walking on rough surface level
  • Sitting: infrequent sitting in a chair
  • Reaching: infrequent reaching above shoulder, backward (maintenance work)
  • Lifting: infrequent lifting at shoulder, above shoulder, overhead, transferring, pushing at or above shoulder, pulling at or above shoulder; occasional lifting floor to waist, waist to shoulder, carrying, pushing below shoulder, pulling below shoulder, dragging, throwing (lifts up to 29.5 kg or 65 lbs; pushes 45.5 to 54.5 kg or 100 to 120 lbs)(maintenance tasks)
  • Standing: occasional standing outside (customer service, daily maintenance work)
  • Hands: infrequent pinching, moussing; occasional fine finger dexterity (movement) (computers and ice equipment)
  • Climbing: infrequent climbing ladders (maintenance work

Essential Qualifications:

  • Possess or in the process of obtaining a high school graduation diploma or equivalent education (i.e. GED certificate)
  • General custodial work experience (changing light bulbs, sweeping, cleaning rest rooms, waste removal, windows, woodwork, etc.)
  • Previous experience with custodial/janitorial duties and building maintenance preferred
  • Basic computer skills
