This position is responsible for providing exceptional service through face to face when customers enter the premises or by answering the incoming calls and properly directing customers or taking messages.  This position includes no cash responsibility; but does include delivery/pick up; providing customer estimates; customer inquiries, etc.  This position also has the function of working in the Milford door plant and warehouse to build and complete customer orders to their exact specifications; loading/unloading trucks; clean yard, including snow removal and lawn maintenance; and re-stocking products and inventory.  This position is also responsible for ensuring that all merchandise and work areas are maintained in a clean and safe manner.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Abide by and adhere to all tasks and procedures outlined in the Employee Manual and any other distributed documents
  • Comply with all health and safety regulations and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment as required
  • Report for work as scheduled wearing the appropriate clothing and logoed corporate attire as may be required
  • Processing paperwork (i.e. door orders, invoices, pick ups, etc.)
  • Tag any products that are sold for pickup later and place in the warehouse
  • Pick any inserts and tag with customer’s name to be installed in ordered doors by door plant worker
  • Sweep the area where trim and windows are kept and remove any garbage
  • Merchandising and restocking front end area
  • Answering incoming calls and taking messages or directing calls
  • Mix paint
  • Conduct inventory lists when stock is getting low and replenish as required
  • Vacuuming and mopping daily
  • Cleaning bathrooms and restocking daily
  • Clean all windows inside and dust ledges and blinds on a weekly basis
  • Clean entrance door with cleaners, including door handles on a weekly basis
  • Clean furnace room floors on a weekly basis
  • Place order for cleaning supplies on Mondays
  • Order any other supplies for front end (toilet paper, paper towel, hand soap, etc.) on a weekly basis
  • Prep and build exterior and interior doors
  • Fill racks with prepped door components
  • Build cabinets and vanities as needed
  • Prepare pallets of product ready for shipping to other stores as necessary
  • Complete transfer papers for product
  • Pick cabinets and insert requests for shipping
  • Load and unload trucks as needed
  • Pre-trip inspections on all equipment and fill fluids as necessary
  • Operate forklift as necessary and only if in possession of valid certification
  • Assist loading customer’s orders as required
  • Clean yard on a regular basis, including emptying all garbage into specified containers
  • Perform yard work, which includes snow removal and lawn maintenance as needed
  • Perform building and fence maintenance of minor repairs as needed
  • Empty dust collection system outside on a weekly basis
  • Empty water bucket from compressor/electrical room and sweep room on a weekly basis
  • Check exit signs and emergency lights monthly
  • Check air exchanger and clean vents on a yearly basis
  • Perform inventory at year end
  • Clean up work area daily, ensuring site is kept tidy and safe always, including the checking for supplies and inventory
  • Clean one shelf at a time and dust product and put back on shelf – do one shelf per day
  • Clean and dust air exchanger vent covers and dust around corner of walls and ceilings on a weekly basis
  • Perform inventory at year end
  • Clean up work area daily, ensuring site is kept tidy and safe always
  • Perform any other tasks as assigned by supervisors
  • If OPEN sign is in window – turn off or on in the morning or at night.

SKILLS:

  • Completion of High School or equivalent
  • Previous customer service experience would be considered an asset
  • Previous customer service experience in a construction product environment would be an asset
  • Certifications in WHMIS and First Aid would be considered an asset
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to be self-motivated
  • Ability to train other staff as needed or if needed for same skills
  • Strong organizational skills and must be detail oriented and flexible
  • Ability to work as part of a team and be a team player
  • Strong technical knowledge in carpentry/construction products and processes; application of products and processes; math skills; occupational health and safety
  • Previous experience and certification in Forklift operations would be considered an asset.
  • Must be able to drive delivery truck and other equipment
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in English both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to lift 50 – 75 pounds on a repetitive basis
  • Ability to provide clean drivers abstract and criminal records background check
  • Decision Making : This position makes decisions only within the scope of the job description and/or specific instructions from their supervisors.  This position is accountable for the decisions he/she makes

INSIDE/OUTSIDE RELATIONSHIPS:

This position deals with customers, co-workers, suppliers on a regular basis and must be able to maintain a professional and business-like attitude always.

POSITION CONDITIONS:

This position has the flexibility to move around during a shift, including sitting, standing, twisting, bending and lifting.  This position works on a computer and must be able to focus for long periods of time.  This position uses the phone as a tool on a routine basis and must be able to have good hearing skills to listen for unusual sounds in equipment and site management. This position has some exposure to dust, dirt, fumes, heat, cold, noise, and inclement weather.  This position may require the lifting of items up to 50 lbs–75 lbs on a repetitive basis.  This position requires visual concentration to complete daily tasks and the work involves both inside and outside and must monitor and adhere to various safety guidelines.  This position requires good hearing to listen for unusual sounds in equipment and site management.

Salary Range: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
