Museum Guide/Researcher

Website The East Hants Historical Society

Job Start Date: June 1, 2020

The East Hants Historical Society is hiring Museum Guides/Researchers for the 2020 season at the Lower Selma Museum & Heritage Cemetery.  A successful candidate will be a student entering or returning to full-time, post-secondary education in the fall 2020.  Ideally, the candidate will be interested in learning more about local history and be knowledgeable about East Hants.  As we navigate the new normal of the COVID-19 pandemic, The East Hants Historical Society is committed to providing a safe working environment for our summer students following the guidelines issued by our provincial government.  The positions will be ever-evolving as we follow the restrictions and guidelines of the province.   Traditionally, a large role filled by the summer students has been focused on guiding guests of the museum through tours of the historic building and the housed exhibits; this may not happen or be significantly delayed during the 2020 season.  A focus on research projects, record and collection management as well as virtual tours could take the main focus for the positions. Positions are subject to receipt of funding.
