Back to school time often represents a significant financial challenge for many families. The Back to School Program aims to provide a starter kit of school supplies and a new backpack to local children to help ease this burden on their families.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Program Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination and delivery of the Back to School Program. This includes the development of promotional material, maintaining a database, coordinating volunteers, and acquiring sponsorships and donations. Additional responsibilities include providing support to staff and volunteers with other United Way projects including the Annual Workplace Campaign and the Bikes for Kids Program.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • The coordination and delivery of the Back to School Program including promoting the program, recruiting volunteers, securing sponsorship and/or raising funds
  • Coordinating the school supplies packing days with volunteers and pick up days for families
  • Preparing press releases, letters and other communication pieces for the Back to School Program
  • Assisting with other United Way activities as required
Other Requirements :

Qualifications:

  • Must be a Canadian Citizen or hold equivalent status and be between the ages of 15 and 30
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, as well as demonstrated attention to detail
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
  • Strong competency in Microsoft Office software
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated with a high degree of initiative
Salary Range: $11.55 per hour; 35 hours per week for 8 weeks
