A Message From Our CEO

Futureworx Society was built on the foundation of helping people with complex circumstances “Realize their Potential“, The common thread in the stories of our clients we serve is that they all share the desire to realize their full potential at home, work and in community. The need for support often goes far beyond needing help to develop a good resume and cover letter. In working closely with our clients we uncover the real obstacles that affect their ability to enter and maintain employment.

The strategies we use that lead to meaningful employment are as varied as the people we serve. All strategic developments undertaken by the Society are conducted with great thought and consideration of our mission and mandate, our overall organizational growth management and our heartfelt passion to share our unique approach. Whenever possible, we want others to have access to our delivery model, assessment tools and curricula. Most importantly, we want to share our passion and drive for this important work!

CEO – Randy Lindsay

Recently our Employer Engagement Specialist from Colchester was invited by the Office of African Nova Scotian Affairs to join them and other community leaders/organizations for an interactive morning at the Nova Scotia Construction Sector Council Trades Exhibition Hall. This hall is a unique venue that offers students, job seekers, employment counsellors, teachers, and the general public an opportunity to experience construction occupations in a tangible way.

The Hall features 14 interactive exhibits (booths) where visitors can learn about construction careers by participating in a variety of hands-on demonstrations and speaking with industry professionals at different stages of their careers. A few examples of the booths are: Boilermaker, Bricklayer, Carpenter/Millwright, Electrician, Management, Operating Engineer, and Sheet Metal Worker.

We recently hosted the first EmployABILITY Business Breakfast in Truro in celebration of DEAM – Disability Employment Awareness Month. This was also the first DEAM event ever to be held in Nova Scotia!

We were so enthused by the turnout of employers and service providers to hear an inspiring and engaging presentation from Mark Wafer on the Economics of Inclusion.

We are very appreciative for our partners in making this event happen; a huge thank you to our co-hosts MentorAbility TEAMWork Cooperative and to our sponsors Community Credit Union and Community Wealth Strategies.
